Computers

Computers are one of the most important items of WEEE to recycle properly. Due to their complex internal parts they must be fully assessed before decisions can be made if they are suitable to re-enter the market place. Any items that cannot be 100% certified as fully working will be broken down in to its core components so that no part will go to waste. Any parts not used for refurbishment will be fully recycled.

Laptops

As with PC’s, any laptops that are in working condition will be fully refurbished and remarketed reducing the amount of waste materials or resources being recycled. All laptops are fully tested to ensure they work as per the original manufacturer’s specification. We have a specialist department exclusively working on laptops to ensure we can provide the best possible service and value to our customers.

Monitors

Any TFT or PC Monitor we recover goes through rigorous testing to ensure there are no pressure marks, pixel issues or shading. We have specialist software that carries out a number of specific screen tests which enables each item to receive a pass certificate before being re-marketed. Due to their content any items that fail are specially processed to comply with environmental agency standards.

Servers & Media Data

We have a fleet of vehicles that can accommodate all different sizes of server equipment, cabinets and racks. All products are put through our refurbishment process with cabinets being fully washed and cleaned to the highest quality.

With the introduction of GDPR and potential consequences of data breaches, the safe and secure destruction of any information on data bearing devices is more important than ever. Every item we recover will be assessed as to whether it holds any data and where appropriate completely wiped in line with industry standards. Any item that cannot be 100% wiped and certified will be destroyed.

Mobile Phones

The mobile phone industry has grown dramatically over the last 10 years. In the UK over 92% of the adult population have at least one mobile phone. It is estimated that there are over 75,000,000 mobile phones lying unused in drawers, garages and offcies around the country. We take mobile phone recycling very seriously and have our own mobile phone specialists who conduct rigorous tests and diagnostics. All mobile phones are securely and safely wiped and either refurbished or recycled. Mobiles that are of poor quality are broken down into core materials for smelting and recycling purposes.

Andes Mountains Hydro Power - Chile

Located in the Tinguiririca River upper valley, this Hydroelectric project is around 120km south of Santiago, Chile. Known as La Confluencia, the 163 MW run of river hydro power plant utilizes the hydrological resources of the Tinguiririca, Portillo and Azufre Rivers, in a run of river scheme to generate and supply zero emission energy to the Chilean central electricity grid (SIC). The power plant generates certified emission reductions (CERs) by displacing electricity generation from grid connected fossil fuel-fired power plants that would otherwise be generating electricity.

Environmental Sustainability

The primary objective of the proposed project is to help meet Chile’s rising demand for energy due to its economic growth and to improve the supply of electricity, while contributing to the environmental, social (job creation in the construction phase, and infrastructure enhancements in surrounding municipalities) and economic sustainability by increasing renewable energy’s share on the Chilean electricity consumption. The Project activity improves the supply of electricity with clean, renewable hydroelectric power while contributing to the regional/local economic development.

Social Development

Through the “Tinguiririca Participa” grant program, the project directly finances proposals presented by community organisation, in areas such as healthcare, education, and social change. In the first year of the program, the joint venture financed 11 projects, while today the number of projects surpasses 200. All of these initiatives are aimed at meeting community needs.

Flora and Fauna

In addition to social projects, reforestation of around 120 hectares around the site has been implemented, helping protect and improve the local flora and fauna, with a specific impact on local Tricahue Parrot, Torrent Duck, Freshwater Catfish, Torrent Duck and Freshwater Catfish species.
