BCU Raises £1514.42 for Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid Through Ethical IT Recycling

The collaboration between Birmingham City University (BCU) and SE Recycling continues to highlight the power of sustainability.

SE Recycling, a specialist in the ethical collection and processing of redundant IT equipment, recently supported BCU in raising £1514.42 for charity. This was made possible through the responsible recycling of the University’s outdated IT and electronic assets.

The funds were generously donated to Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid (BSWA), an organisation that has spent over four decades supporting women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse. BCU’s decision to donate their rebate to BSWA reflects their deep commitment to community welfare and social responsibility. This contribution plays a valuable role in helping BSWA continue its vital work, advocating for the rights of women and children to live free from fear and harm.

Simon Chow, IT Collections Manager at SE Recycling, shared his thoughts on the ongoing partnership: “As we pass the fifth year in our collaboration with BCU, it stands as a true testament to the great work that can be achieved between industry and academia. It also emphasises the positive influence recycling can have not only on environmental sustainability but also on enriching the local community.”

This initiative is a shining example of how sustainable practices can be harnessed for positive change. SE Recycling encourages other organisations to follow BCU’s lead by donating redundant IT equipment or supporting local fundraising efforts.
