Continuing as a Carbon Neutral Business: Our 2024 Milestone

We are delighted to share that we are continuously operating as a Carbon Neutral Business, having successfully offset 168.11 tonnes of CO₂e emissions for the year 2024. Through certified carbon offsetting, we ensure that our operations are responsibly managed and aligned with our wider environmental goals.

Our focus has never been on simply compensating for emissions—we are deeply committed to reducing them at the source and using offsetting as a vital tool to neutralise our remaining footprint as we transition to lower-carbon practices across the business.

Our Ongoing Sustainability Initiatives

Our carbon neutrality is underpinned by action. Across our operations, we’ve introduced and continually improved on initiatives designed to reduce our environmental impact, including:

1. Waste Minimisation: We play a vital role in reducing e-waste by securely processing and recycling discarded IT equipment. This prevents valuable resources from ending up in landfill, cuts unnecessary emissions, and supports the circular economy by promoting reuse and responsible disposal.

2. Energy Efficiency: Across our sites, we’ve invested in modern, energy-efficient systems and practices to significantly lower operational energy use and cut emissions at the source.

3. Sustainable Sourcing: We partner with suppliers and service providers who share our sustainability values, helping us reduce indirect emissions throughout our supply chain.

4. End-of-Life Battery Solutions: Our sister division – Cellcycle, delivers the complete, sustainable solutions for managing end-of-life lithium-ion batteries. By recovering valuable materials and safely recycling hazardous components, we reduce the need for raw material extraction and prevent harmful waste from entering the environment—contributing directly to emissions reduction and resource preservation.

These practical steps are helping us reduce the amount of CO₂e we produce, and our carbon offsetting strategy ensures that what remains is responsibly and transparently balanced out.

Andes Mountains Hydro Power - Chile

Located in the Tinguiririca River upper valley, this Hydroelectric project is around 120km south of Santiago, Chile. Known as La Confluencia, the 163 MW run of river hydro power plant utilizes the hydrological resources of the Tinguiririca, Portillo and Azufre Rivers, in a run of river scheme to generate and supply zero emission energy to the Chilean central electricity grid (SIC). The power plant generates certified emission reductions (CERs) by displacing electricity generation from grid connected fossil fuel-fired power plants that would otherwise be generating electricity.

Environmental Sustainability

The primary objective of the proposed project is to help meet Chile’s rising demand for energy due to its economic growth and to improve the supply of electricity, while contributing to the environmental, social (job creation in the construction phase, and infrastructure enhancements in surrounding municipalities) and economic sustainability by increasing renewable energy’s share on the Chilean electricity consumption. The Project activity improves the supply of electricity with clean, renewable hydroelectric power while contributing to the regional/local economic development.

Social Development

Through the “Tinguiririca Participa” grant program, the project directly finances proposals presented by community organisation, in areas such as healthcare, education, and social change. In the first year of the program, the joint venture financed 11 projects, while today the number of projects surpasses 200. All of these initiatives are aimed at meeting community needs.

Flora and Fauna

In addition to social projects, reforestation of around 120 hectares around the site has been implemented, helping protect and improve the local flora and fauna, with a specific impact on local Tricahue Parrot, Torrent Duck, Freshwater Catfish, Torrent Duck and Freshwater Catfish species.
